What to expect & how to prepare

WHAT TO EXPECT

Nervous system shift

In the Hut: A natural down-regulation through the steady hum and vibrational field of the hive.

On the Land & with Tara: Conscious awareness of learning how to recognize and sustain regulation in your body beyond the experience and in nature.

Sensory Experience

In the Hut: Hive vibrations variations throughout the day. Warm resonance air (sweet to bread baking smells). Rhythmic sounds.

On the Land & with Tara: Wind, Sun, Earth, Trees, Birds, Farm life and healthy fresh foods.

Emotional Access

In the Hut: Emotions may surface unexpectedly as the body softens. A safe space to release. Excellent for grief, loss, times of transition or confusion or even joy and celebration.

On the Land & with Tara: Safe, non-invasive support to meet those emotions without overwhelm or bypassing.

Time Perception

In the Hut: Time often feels suspended, slowed, or altered.

On the Land & with Tara: Learning how to move at a pace that supports your nervous system.

Breath & body awareness

In the Hut: Your breath may naturally slow and deepen without effort. Healing of the body and increased body connection.

On the Land & with Tara: Optional - Guided breathwork (root-to-heart) to support emotional release, grounding, and integration.

Stillness and Integration

In the Hut: Deep stillness, often meditative or sleep-like states. The hut is also a safe dark space to fully rest.

On the Land & with Tara: Time and support to process what arose—emotionally, physically, or mentally.

The bees open the door.
The breath, the body, and the land help you walk through it.

HOW TO PREPARE

Enjoy the journey to the farm. Start to be present and enjoy each moment, even if challenging

Give the bees a break.  They work hard as we sit in their home and space.

Did you know bees are sensitive to anyone who has been drinking or is in any altered state of mind?  All Bee Hut sits are an alcohol, thc and other drug free zone. If we think you are intoxicated on any level, even just one drink, we will ask you to leave without refund.

Their home is also a cell phone and any electronics free zone.   We will remind you to leave your cell and electronics in the car.  People enjoy reading a book, praying, meditating, journaling, knitting, sleeping or just bee-ing in the hut.  Think of this time to rest and relax to optimize the healing essence of the bees.

Avoid any perfumes and any scented sprays, essential oils, lotions, etc.

Sitting with the bees doesn't cure, but can support compromised lungs during allergy or fire season. Sitting with the bees doesn't cure anxiety or neurological challenges, but it can help temporarily relax the mind and body and support any healing journey. Their vibration is also known to support tissue and cellular repair. This includes post surgery. We encourage you to do more research on your own and bee sure to consult your doctor and therapist before sitting with the bees.

It takes a minimum of 35-50 minutes to truly begin to feel the medicinal powers of these incredible creatures. We suggest to sit with the bees for 60-90 minutes. If you are hoping to support body wellness and repair, we suggest sitting with the bees for 3 hours (2 90 minute sessions) in one day or about 90 min X 5 times during a month.

Feeling deep anger or rage? These feelings agitate and threaten the bees.  All other feelings welcome - sadness, grief, tears, joy, confusion, deep love, in awe, curiosity, depression, etc. This healing opportunity opens the doors to energy exchange.  Not only are you absorbing their essence, but they are also absorbing yours.

*IMPORTANT - bee therapy is seasonal here in Colorado.  Bees sleep and rest during the cold winter months.  Bee sitting is only available about 5- 6 months per year.   NO WALK INS AVAILABLE AT ANY TIME.

Common Questions

Do the bees fly around in the hut? No. The bees are separated from you between 2 layers of special tiny screen. Once in a blue moon a bee may enter to the hut through the door opening and closing. We check the hut with you before a sit begins. If this happens without us there, please leave the hut and let us know so we can remove the bee for you.

Can I watch the bees? Yes, an observation hive was added summer of 2025 and it is thriving beautifully. The observation is covered in light, however you can pull back the curtain to visually connect with the bees in low light for a short amount of time.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. Anyone under the age of 18 must attend with an adult. Any kiddos must be pre-approved before signing up. We will ask you some questions to make sure it's a good match since the hut is a silent (nearly quiet) space with absolutely no quick movement.

Do you offer add on services?

Yes, Tara is a breathwork and earthing (and grounding) expert. Upon request, she is happy to guide you in other grounding/earthing techniques to help support your wellness when the bees are hibernating in the winter or to weave into your daily and weekly life practices. You can learn more about what Tara offers here: https://www.earthtantra.com/

What is the temperature?

During the mid summer months it's best to sit with the bees morning - Noon and 6pm - 9pm due to the heat. Mid to later afternoon experiences have more of a heated sauna type feel, where mornings are cooler. Spring and autumn months are cooler. We adjust our time slots according to the seasonal flows.

If electronics aren't brought into the hut, how do I know when my time is up?

There is a sensory sensitive timer in the hut you may use, or depending on the situation Tara or Darrin might be able to knock on the door for a 10 minute end time heads up.

Bathroom breaks?

Yes, you can leave the hut at anytime to use the bathroom. We have a really neat looking and clean outdoor toilet house to use.

Can I eat in the hut?

No. No food is allowed in the hut. You may leave the hut to eat at anytime. Only water is permitted in the hut.

Can I bring other forms of therapy tools in the hut?

No yoga sequences (repeated or quick movement), essential oils or sound bowls are allowed in the hut. The hut is for silence and stillness only.  Any sounds, smells, quick or open movement irritates the bees. However, we encourage quiet slow moving breathwork in the hut to move with the bee energy and optimise your experience. If you are new to breathwork, you can choose to learn root 2 heart healing breathwork that aligns with the bees. Tara has been teaching this form of breathwork for over 10 years.

Do you sell honey?

Absolutely! We sell many sizes of honey from 8oz to 1 gallon ranging in price from $8-$100. Our honey is raw and unprocessed. We do filter the honey to remove any tiny particles of bee parts and wax that sometimes mix into the honey

I'm allergic and/or fear bees. Can I come sit with them?

Many people come to sit with the bees to overcome fear in a safe space. If you are allergic, we ask you bring your epi-pen with you - which is required for people with allergic reactions. If you are unsure, we have liquid benadryl and a hospital is about 1 mile away for emergencies. We ARE NOT a medical center. We provide a space for people to connect and heal with the bees for body, mind and spiritual growth.

Do you provide bee venom therapy?

No. We do not provide this service. We only focus on providing a gentle healing space for you to work with your own inner healing journey without killing bees intentionally.
